Clim-Eat’s research article ‘Has process hijacked purpose’ featured in The Guardian

Clim-Eat’s research article, “Has process hijacked purpose?” was recently featured in The Guardian as a key example of food system experts scrutinizing the multilateral process of food systems action.

In our scientific publication, Dhanush, Leanne, and Bruce analyzed 17 years of UNFCCC meetings on food, uncovering how challenging it is to trace meaningful outcomes from Presidency-led initiatives.

The Guardian article sheds light on the growing presence of food sector lobbyists at COPs, highlighting a sharp increase in delegates with country badges—from just 5% at COP27 to 40% at the recent summit in Baku—raising concerns about their influence on official negotiations.

But already a year ago, Bruce questioned whether big livestock is following the path of big oil and big tobacco from years past.
