About The Event

The Principles for Inclusive Nature Action are a collaboratively developed framework that promote gender-responsive, locally-led, rights-based approaches to halting and reversing biodiversity loss. The Principles have been developed by a diverse multistakeholder group of governments, civil society actors, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, multilateral agencies and research institutes.

Set out in an 8-point framework, the Principles emphasize the importance of centring the voices and leadership of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, women, youth, and other historically marginalized groups in the delivery of nature finance. This event will draw out how diverse actors can embody the Principles in their work to tackle the Climate and Nature emergencies.

The Principles were launched in draft form by UK Minister for Nature at Biodiversity COP16. This event at UNFCCC COP30 would formally launch the finalised version of the Principles and invite endorsement (TBC) by a wide range of actors working to tackle the climate crisis and ensure the sustainable use, protection and restoration of global biodiversity.

This session will further launch a new project ‘ Voices for a Just Rural Transition’ delivered by Clim-Eat and the University of Leeds to put the voices of smallholder farmers at the heart of food system reform, amplifying local perspectives and shifting agricultural policy to deliver public goods.
