Lessons from a Digital Climate Advisory Services Pilot in Rwanda

Building Climate Resilience Through Digital Advisory Services in Rwanda explores how digital tools can help smallholder farmers respond to increasing climate uncertainty while strengthening food security and rural livelihoods. Authored by Claude K. Migisha, Daan Schuttenbelt, and Wiebe Smit, the paper examines a pilot Digital Climate Advisory Services (DCAS) initiative implemented across five maize cooperatives in Rwanda through a partnership between Agriterra, the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), Africa Improved Foods (AIF), and Clim-Eat.

The report highlights key lessons on farmer engagement, gender inclusion, private-sector partnerships, and the design of climate-smart advisory services. It offers practical recommendations for scaling sustainable, farmer-centred digital solutions that can strengthen climate resilience across agricultural value chains.
